It gives me great pleasure to present before you the report of Gymkhana activities for the year 2009-2010

The year has been a fruitful year in terms of achievements of our young and zealous students from Degree and Junior college in various sports and events in individual and team events at interschool, inter collegiate & interuniversity and open tournaments at district, state and National Levels.

ACHIEVEMENTS OF DEGREE COLLEGE

  • ATHLETICS BOYS

 

Dhiraj Mishra of F.Y. B.Com our Athletic star is going to represent India in south Asian Federation Games in triple jump which will be held in Jan-2010

He has been selected to represent Mumbai University for the All India – University Athletics Tournament to be organized by Association of Indian universities at University of Madras.
He is a captain of Maharashtra team for all the Athletic Nationals held this year.

Dhiraj Mishra has won Gold Medal in triple jump Boys under 20 Inter zonal Nationals held at Lucknow in the month of June He has secured second position in Boys under 20 Junior Nationals held at chandigarh in September.

He has represented Mumbai University and has won Gold Medal at Ashwamedh Maharashtra state interuniversity held at konkan krushi vidyapeeth Dapoli in November

  • ATHLETIC WOMEN.

 

Divya Kindalkar T.Y. B.com. Banking & Insurance Secured 6th position in 1500mts run in intercollegiate at Mumbai University.

  • BADMINTON MEN.

 

Our college Badminton Men’s team won the bronze medal in Mumbai University tournament Team members are Sumukh chavan of and Sanket Shribhate of S.Y.B.Com.
Sanket shribhate has won the Bronze medal in individual championship intercollegiate tournament held at university of Mumbai. and also represented Mumbai University at all India University tournament.

  • CHESS

 

Our college chess team qualified for inter zonal tournament from zone- III for inter zonal Mumbai university tournament held at S.K. Somaiya college vidyavihar .Team members are Nachiket Deshmukh, Aadesh Mule, Manish Parab & Ashwin Dhakras.

Nachiket Deshmukh & Ashwin Dhakras are also selected for individual university competition.

  • KHO-KHO MEN.

Our college & Mumbai University jointly organized intercollegiate zone-III Kho-Kho men’s tournament on 22nd Sept-2009.

Our Kho-Kho men’s team was qualified from zone-III for Mumbai university interzonal tournament.

  • KARATE

Kanad Meshram of First year Banking – Insurance has won Gold Medal for outstanding Karate skill in katta event category at state-selection tournament by Budokon karate Association of  Maharashtra & was also awarded Gold Medal for Karate skill in Team Kumite Event.

Kanad Meshram also represented Maharashtra in Katta Black Belt event and won Gold medal at XIth national Karate competition held at Thrissur kerala on 14th & 15th November and was also awarded Gold Medal for karate skill in Team Kumite Event at Thrissur.

Kanad Meshram Was also awarded silver medal in kumite event in the Category Boys under 20 at Maharashtra state sports karate championship 2009 organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan held at Nirmala Niketan hall varkak Nagar Thane on 6th December

  • BEST PHYSIQUE.

 

Pradeep Taktode of T.Y.B.A. has won bronze medal at Greater Mumbai & suburban district at open level competition.

Pradeep Taktode secured 2nd place in district body building competition organized by Shri Mavli Mandal Thane on 15th November He also secured 5th position and  Yogesh Patil of T Y B.com secured 7th position at Thane district Body Building Association held at St Lawrence high School Thane on 7th November.

 

  • WEIGHT LIFTING.

 

Abhijeet chavan of T.Y.B.Com secured second position in 50 kg weight group in Amateur Weight Lifting Association suburban Mumbai held at Empire Gym on 31st October.

  • TAEKWONDO

 

Manali Shinde of FYB.com Accounts finance won the Gold Medal at district level Taekwondo Competition held at Badlapur.

 

  • SWIMMING

Samrudhi Patil of TYB.com represented our college in University state level competition and won Bronze Medal in 50mtrs. Free style.

  • VOLLEY BALL MEN

 

Our college team played the qualified round at inter collegiate Zone-III tournament Matches held at Jhondale Engineering College Dombivali on 4th & 5th November

  • KABADDI (MEN)

 

Our college kabaddi team played the qualified round at inter collegiate zone-III tournament matches held at Engineering college Bhivpuri District Raigad held in September.

 

 

Junior College.

  • ATHLETIC BOYS.

 

Sidhesh Khade of XIIth Commerce was awarded silver medal in discuss throw at Taluka level competition on 31st October and won bronze medal at district level competition on 4th & 5th November held at Dadoji Konddev stadium organized by district sports office Thane.

  • ATHLETIC GIRLS.

 

Neelima kindalkar of XIIth commerce won the Gold Medal in 1500mtrs run and silver medal in 400mtrs & 800mtrs run, Anjali kamble won Gold medal in 100mtrs run and Shradha Gole won the silver medal in 100mtrs and 200mtrs run at Taluka level competition held at Dadoji konddev stadium Thane on 1st    Nov, organized by district sports office Thane.

Neelima kindalkar won the silver medal in 400mtrs & 800mtrs run competition held at  Dadoji konddev stadium on 4th & 5th Nov organized by district sports office Thane.

  • CARROM BOYS.

 

Sheikh Mushahid of XIth commerce secured first position at Thane- Taluka carom competition held at Vasant Vihar School Thane on 19th September.

  • CARROM  GIRLS

Juhi Koli of XIth commerce secured first position at Thane - Taluka carom competition held at Vasant Vihar school Thane on 19th September.

 

 

  • CRICKET BOYS

Our Junior college Boys Cricket team were the winners of Thane – Taluka and represented Thane district at Mumbai division tournament organized by Mumbai district sports office and qualified for semi-finals.

  • FOOTBALL

 

Nikhil Surve & Gaurav Kadam of XIth commerce represented Maharashtra at 7- subjunior and senior 7-A football championship held at kanyakumari in September, Maharashtra team won the Bronze medal in this Tournament our college Football team won the 2nd position at Somaiya Games held at Somaiya college on 18th & 19th December

  • GYMNASTIC

 

Pranali Mandavkar won the Gold Medal and Radhika Sangurdekar secured 6th position in Gymnastic at Thane District and Mumbai Divisional Competition organized by district sports office Thane on 14th September.

Pranali Madavkar was selected to represent Mumbai Division at state level competition.

She represented Maharashtra and won Bronze medal in XXXV National Sports for women held at Margao Goa in  November

Pranali Mandavkar won the Gold Medal at Thane District, Mumbai division & state-level competitions in ladies open tournaments organized by district sports office, Thane & State level competition organized by director of sports Maharashtra.

 

  • SIKEI MARTIAL ART

Priyanka Palkhe of XIth commerce won the Gold Medal in SIKEI Martial Art at Thane district and Mumbai division competition held at Vartak Nagar Thane.

She Represented Mumbai division in 62kg group at Maharashtra state SIKEI martial arts competition held at Gadge Maharaj Sabhagrah Nagpur on 14th &15th Nov-2009. She represented Maharashtra at National Level SIKEI martial Art competition.

  • KARRATE

 

Prashant Pawar of XIth commerce was awarded Bronze medal in kumite event Boys -20 categary, Chirag Malvadkar was awarded Gold Medal in Kumite Boys -18 Category at Maharashtra state level sport karate Championship 2009. Organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Thane, Maharashtra youth club, Kalyan & Aryan Academy  Mumbai held at Vartak Nagar Thane.

  • KHO –KHO

 

Our college & district sports office jointly organized district level Kho-Kho tournament from 14th to 16th September for Boys & Girls under age group 14,17 & 19 and also Mahila -  Open group Tournament. 

  • TABLE – TENNIS BOYS

 

Table – Tennis Boys team are winners of Thane district tournaments held at M.H. High school & Junior college Thane in September – 2009, tournaments organized by district sports office Thane.

 

  • ANNUAL SPORTS

The college Annual Athletic meet was held on 22nd December 2009
The following students were the winners of college athletic championship for the academic year 2009-2010.

The Success of our sportsmen and sportswomen in their respective sporting events is possible through the encouragement, motivation, inspiration and continuous guidance of our experienced coaches in various fields of sports. On behalf of college I sincerely thank the coaches.

  • Tribute

The Gymkhana suffered a deep loss with the demise of its devoted Athletic coach Mr. Pralhad Bhangale who had been coaching our students for more than 20 years. We pay our tribute to Late shri Pralhad Bhangale for his hardwork, dedication and perseverance. His timely guidance as athletic coach has bought many laurels to our college.

In conducting the activities of Gymkhana we acknowledge those who have been kind enough to render guidance and help in this regard. I would like to place on record my sincere thanks to Principal Dr. Mrs. S.A. Singh, Degree College, Vice Principals Mrs. L.P.Bhat, Dr. Murti, Junior College vice Principal Mrs. G. Tirmare, Junior college supervisors shri Prakash Bachhao. I extend my sincere thanks to our college Registrar Mr. P. R. Shembekar, Gymkhana committee members Physical instructor shri. P.P.
